Whether you’re a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, or the Union, we’ve got you covered. Keep scrolling to see our suggestions on how to show off your Philly sports pride on your wedding day.
1. Invite the Mascot
What better way to show some Philly love than by having one of Philadelphia’s iconic sports mascots at your wedding reception? We’ve attended numerous weddings where the legendary Phillie Phanatic has made a surprise appearance- bringing energy and an unforgettable party vibe! The interactive experience that a mascot brings is always a hit. Excite your guests with a visit from the Phanatic, Swoop, Franklin, Gritty, or Phang at your Philadelphia wedding reception.
In February of 2024, we had the honor of taking part in former 6ABC reporters, Jessica Boyington’s Philadelphia wedding. Jessica and her husband, Tim Roken, shocked their guests with a staged argument during the cake cutting.
As the happy couple was getting ready to cut their cake, the cake knife was nowhere to be found. Jessica and Tim yelled back and forth with the maître d’ asking where their knife was. While their guests watched in horror, Big Ric, band leader of Big Ric Rising, shouted out to the crowd, “Where’s the Knife? We need somebody with a knife!!” Seconds later, the Phillie Phanatic came sprinting into the room with a cake knife, saving the day. Jessica and Tim took their Philly passion to the next level with this act, and it was definitely one for the books.
2. Wedding Attire
We know all about the passion Philadelphia sports fans have for their teams. Adding a subtle touch to your wedding attire is always a fun way to show some admiration for your team.
For the Groom:
- Adding cufflinks of your favorite teams logo to your wedding attire is subtle, yet classy and fashionable. You and your groomsmen can even wear matching cufflinks to bring the look together. Show some brotherly love with this sleek accessory.
- A popular trend for grooms today is to personalize their socks. Throw on a decorated pair of socks with your favorite Philadelphia sports logo. This small detail makes for the perfect way to show off your Philly pride!
For the Bride:
- If you’re ditching the heels at your reception, consider wearing custom made shoes that are personalized to your favorite Philly sports team. Keep your style comfy and personalized while showing off your love for your favorite Philadelphia sports team!
- Rep your favorite team while your getting ready for your special day or bring a jersey to take a couple photos in. These moments make for great memories that you can look back on.
3. Dessert
It’s time to cut the cake! If you don’t want to go all out by inviting the mascot or adding some Philly bling to your attire, try adding some themed desserts to your menu. We have seen Flyers cookies, Eagles and Phillies themed cakes, and Sixers sprinkles. Not only do guests love the idea, they’re also delicious!
4. Guest Book
Get creative with your guest book and use a custom jersey for your guests to sign! Choose your favorite team’s jersey, add your last name and year of celebration and then leave it up to your family and friends to autograph it throughout the night. This jersey can be framed as a keepsake, while showing off some Philly pride in your home.
