DJ For Wedding Ceremony
Our experienced DJs for wedding ceremony not only play music for your wedding reception, but provide music for the entire wedding day. You have your choice of song selection, whether they be instrumental, acoustic, classic or modern, that you want to hear during your ceremony and as guests are entering and seated. You will also be able to choose the songs you and your wedding party walk down the aisle to, and exit the ceremony as a newlywed couple! All of these specifics take place during your pre-wedding meetings with your BVTLive! live wedding DJ and can also be found within our wedding planning portal.
Deciding on the perfect entertainment option for your special day is a big question for couples to decide on. The age-old debate between having a live wedding band or a wedding DJ at your wedding may be tough for music lovers who see the advantages of both.
But, has anybody rented both a DJ and a live band for a wedding? Yes! Plenty of our customers have requested a unique experience for their guests that only a live wedding band and DJ can provide together.
Live bands will add personality and interaction to your dance floor. The great ones will also play and learn any songs for your wedding. DJs will be able to play and mix the original recordings from classics to Top 40, EDM, and Hip Hop.
Tips For Both a DJ and a Live Music For Weddings
The average wedding lasts anywhere from six to seven hours between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. Music and entertainment play a large part in making your wedding day exciting for your guests.
Plenty of couples choose to have both a live band and a DJ at their wedding. One of BVTLive!’s lovely brides, Lindsay, recently had a gorgeous Philadelphia wedding at The Bellevue where she had the Eddie Bruce Experience and DJ Jon Gill at her reception. Guests danced the night away, with an alternating mix of relentless dance music performed by the band and DJ Jon Gill.

One important thing to consider when contemplating booking both a live band and a DJ is the order in which they will perform. BVTLive!’s dance bands are known for getting people out onto the dance floor and creating interaction with guests. Many of our couples choose to either have the band and DJ alternate throughout the night, or save the DJ for later in the evening when you don’t want the party to stop.
Typically if the couple wants to save the DJ for later in the night, the live band will perform for about the first few hours of the reception, and then switch over to the DJ for the rest of the evening or alternate sets through out the reception.
What Is Your Wedding Music Budget?
The question that you have to ask yourself when looking for what kind of entertainment best suits your wedding is: what is your budget?
DJs are typically a more affordable option, and live bands generally cost a little more. If you are trying to stick to a strict budget, it may be more realistic to just choose one entertainment option. If you are willing to pay more for some fabulous wedding day music options, then why just choose one? Keep in mind that the incredible dance floor experience that you will get from having both a live band and DJ is priceless.

Advantages of Having Both DJ and Band For Wedding
Live bands will add personality and interaction to your dance floor. The great ones will also play and learn any songs for your wedding. Meanwhile, wedding DJs will be able to play some of those beat-heavy, electronic tunes that you love and mix the original recordings from classics to Top 40, EDM, and Hip Hop.
All of our live bands at BVTLive! are wedding professionals who consult with couples before their big day to determine exactly what their music taste is and how they imagine their wedding night going. Our bands will also develop custom playlists for each couple, with the addition of learning three-to-four new songs that are not included on their extensive song lists.
A mix of both a live wedding band and wedding DJ is an absolute dream for couples who want to have an unforgettable event. Not only will your live band get the dance floor packed with guests and create an amazing atmosphere, but you can also have the flexibility of your DJ playing the original versions of the songs you love.

DJ Fusion and DJ Blend Options
For couples who want the flexibility of having both a DJ and a live band for a wedding and want to spend a little less on entertainment, BVTLive has some great options for you.
Two of our live bands, Deja Blue and City Rhythm, have talented band members who can also perform as a DJ at your reception for no additional cost. If you book either of these bands, we will work with you to determine exactly what you want to make the wedding of your dreams!
Another option that we offer to couples is our DJ Fusion and DJ Blend. Our DJ Fusion is typically live musicians playing along with a DJ. Check out this example of DJ Fusion – featuring DJ Gaetano with Michael Romeo on Drums, and Nils Mossblad on saxophone at the 70s-themed holiday party for the staff of the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia.
Our DJ Blend options typically include solo musicians playing at your ceremony and cocktail hour, and then transitioning to a DJ at your reception. The options and customizations are limitless when it comes to DJ Blend weddings. Check out this video from a wedding at the Manor House at Commonwealth featuring BVTLive! Strings for the ceremony and cocktail hour followed by the reception with DJ Linx with fusion by Lisa Sebastian and Edgardo Cintron.
Attend a live music showcase to meet the bands in a no-pressure or obligation environment.
